Retention & Deletion
StriideAi does not retain personal information indefinitely simply because storage is available.
Retention is linked to:
- providing the service;
- user choice;
- security;
- legal/accounting obligations;
- operational necessity.
5.1 Current retention schedule
| Data category | Retention |
|---|---|
| Active account/profile | While account is active |
| Deleted account data in live systems | Prompt deletion following valid deletion request |
| AWS backups/snapshots | 7 days |
| Application logs | 14 days |
| Sentry diagnostic logs | 30 days |
| Resend delivery logs | 30 days |
| Practice video | Maximum 30 days; deleted earlier where review purpose is completed and no further purpose exists |
| Video analysis results and reports | Until the user deletes them or the account (within 30 days of account deletion) |
| AI prompt/response content | Maximum 90 days |
| AI technical/audit metadata | 12 months |
| Parent/guardian approval record | Account lifetime + 12 months |
| Subscription/accounting records | Retained for applicable statutory/accounting requirements |
| Security incident records | Retained for as long as justified by investigation/compliance requirements |
| Certificates/achievement records | While account active unless deleted where legally available |
| Deleted data in encrypted backup | Until normal backup expiry |
5.2 Practice videos
Practice videos are retained for a maximum of 30 days by default.
Where a video is uploaded only for a specific review or assessment and the purpose is completed earlier, StriideAi may delete the video earlier.
Users may also delete their videos before the retention period ends.
Where possible, StriideAi retains the outcome of a review rather than the raw video itself. For example:
- score;
- coach comments;
- recommendations;
- progress metrics.
This supports data minimisation.
5.3 Account deletion
When an account is deleted, StriideAi's process is designed to:
- remove the active user profile;
- remove associated saved content;
- remove associated notifications;
- remove user-uploaded practice media;
- remove or de-identify related service records where appropriate;
- retain only records required for legal/accounting reasons;
- allow encrypted backup copies to expire under the normal backup cycle.
5.4 AI history deletion
AI prompt/response history is retained for a maximum of 90 days.
Users may request deletion earlier where supported.
Technical/audit metadata may be retained separately for up to 12 months for:
- security;
- service reliability;
- usage control;
- audit;
- operational monitoring.
The long-term audit record should not contain the full prompt/response content unless specifically required for a documented incident.
